When a child is born, parents have access to many resources intended to guide and instruct the parents in their new role as mother and father. Many first-time parents spend hours reading books to be as prepared as possible for the arrival of their new child. These guides should help to relieve concerns about development. As children develop, parents are also provided guides based on the age, stage of development, and milestones a child should reach along the way. However, the principles serve only as a resource in child development as elements of the maturation theory and movement with hands-on learning activities.

Concrete Hands-On

The focus of the thematic calendar is Exploration: Inside and Out. Students will focus on setting a story in weeks one and two and shapes in weeks three and four. The calendar is broken down into a list of daily activities that the students will engage in. The day starts with calendar time and a whole group reading time. Links are embedded in the lesson plan calendar to show the links to the story. The center activities are tailored to the weekly theme of setting a story and shapes. Students will be encouraged to use their surroundings, inside and out, to explore more about their themes. Students will be divided into five groups, and each group will remain at a designated station for 30-40 minutes. The activities students engage with each with will be adjusted to fit the weekly setting or about shapes
